At last! Free, fast wifi at HCMC Airport. 11am on Christmas Eve and then outside temp is a pretty mild 27 degrees C. Just flown here from Hoi An where it was absolutely peeing down. I’m off again in about an hour to Cambodia and Siem Reap.
I was last here 5 years ago and the place was a nightmare then, not geared up for international travellers at all, you could only spend dollars, everything was astronomically expensive (no change there then) and there were virtually no signs in English. But now – this is one impressive airport. It’s big, airy and obviously well run. AND you can change dong back into real money! albeit at a crap rate. This is good news as it means that I won’t be leaving Vietnam a dong millionaire.
Enjoy all that last minute shopping! By 4pm I’ll be in Siem Reap sitting in the sun and having a cold beer.
